The Pottery Factory, a historic business, was founded in 1938 by James E. Maloney in a roadside shack, several miles west of Williamsburg. Utilizing traditional techniques and his knowledge of colonial ware, he began designing affordable, quality 18th century-style pottery reproductions. Today, potters here still use the same methods created by Maloney in the same factory he built about seventy years ago.
